Before
In a newly developed residential area, we were commissioned to carry out the lawn installation for the garden of a private home. The paved surfaces created during construction proved insufficient, and the garden was fully exposed to the street.
The rear garden was uneven, partially grassed, and did not meet the owners’ expectations. They approached us with clear ideas and a refined vision, emphasizing two main objectives: raising the garden level to create a usable, level lawn surface, and ensuring privacy within the outdoor space.
After
Following consultations with the homeowners, we agreed on creating a more level lawn area, which required the construction of a solid timber retaining wall. Along the property boundary, an evergreen hedge was planted to provide privacy.
Paved walkways were extended with stepping stones and gravel areas, positioned and sized according to the owners’ needs.
A distinctively shaped planting bed was introduced, becoming a defining feature of the garden. The selection of plants and stones, inspired by Japanese garden aesthetics, reflects the refined taste of the homeowners.
The varied use of colors, forms, and textures brings vibrancy to the space while maintaining functionality and simplicity. For ease of maintenance, an automatic irrigation system was installed, and planting beds were covered with geotextile fabric and gravel.
For cost efficiency, the lawn was established through seed sowing rather than turf installation.
The completed garden clearly demonstrates how a post-construction outdoor space can be transformed into a livable, functional environment through thoughtful design and professional execution.

Implementation
As a first step, the site levels were adjusted, followed by the construction of a solid timber retaining wall, whose natural appearance integrates seamlessly with the character of the garden.
During construction, heavy machinery was used to excavate foundations of up to approximately 1 meter in depth. The existing vegetation layer was removed, and the area was refilled with high-quality topsoil.
Although seemingly straightforward, this process required extensive equipment, including a front loader, tracked mini-excavator, dumper, and roller. As a result, the final terrain levels were established within just one week, with nearly 100 m³ of soil relocated.
Existing paved areas were complemented with stepping stones and gravel surfaces, tailored to the functional needs of the garden.
In total, the project included:
- approximately 140 m² of gravel surfaces,
- over 200 m² of lawn,
- and 30 m² of stepping-stone pathways
To define the lawn areas, nearly 100 linear meters of plastic edging were installed.
Long-term functionality was ensured through the installation of an automatic irrigation system, along with ornamental plantings such as evergreens, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and flowering shrubs, which enhance the garden’s structure and spatial composition.
