Before

This project focused on the restoration of the garden at Bethlen Estates — a historical site nestled in a naturally rich landscape. The design process began with a clean slate: an untouched site with no existing hardscape, no defined spatial structure, and no planned vegetation — only the presence of heritage buildings in a wild, natural setting.

The client envisioned a concept that was subtle, contemporary in tone, and seamlessly integrated into the surrounding landscape. Our goal was to create a timeless garden — refined, understated, and fully aligned with the architectural legacy of the estate. This vision laid the foundation for every design decision we made.

After

This project was more than a landscape challenge — it was part of a larger process: preserving the spirit of a place that belongs to no single moment in time.

Each element was designed with care, shaped by a desire to create genuine harmony with nature. And while the garden today stands complete, it represents just one phase in an ongoing story — a living space that evolves with the seasons, and one that we are proud to witness, nurture, and grow alongside.

Implementation

The design was shaped through a deep analysis of the site’s unique character, including its topography, spatial context, and historic background. The strong visual presence of the existing buildings, combined with the gentle terrain and cultural heritage, guided the development of a sensitive and site-specific concept.

The planting scheme focused on perennials and shrubs selected for their ecological value, biodiversity support, and minimal maintenance needs.

The construction process began with careful grading to ensure the garden would settle naturally into the surrounding landscape. Pathways were laid using natural stone with permeable sublayers, turf areas were established with high-quality sod, and planting beds were mulched with pine bark to enhance soil stability and visual cohesion.

A fully automated irrigation system was installed, along with a robotic lawn mower to ensure low-maintenance upkeep. Every material used was natural, durable, and environmentally responsible — reinforcing the long-term sustainability of the space.

The result is a garden that embodies softness, simplicity, and the essence of contemporary landscape thinking — in harmony with its heritage context.
